Description

Martin Ergo Upper Root Fragments Deep-Gripping Forceps No. 153 are precision dental extraction instruments designed for the controlled removal of deep-seated upper root fragments and retained root remnants. The MMI-51-153 features long, narrow and tapered beaks designed to provide deeper access and secure engagement with difficult-to-reach root fragments.

The Fig. 153 pattern is specifically classified for upper root fragments with a deep-gripping design. Its narrow working ends facilitate access to deeper root remnants, while the fine serrated gripping surfaces help maintain secure contact during controlled extraction procedures. KLS Martin specifies a 3.9 mm working-end width for this pattern.

The deep-reaching configuration allows the working ends to be positioned closer to the retained root structure, making the instrument suitable for root fragments where conventional broader extraction forceps may provide insufficient access. The ergonomic handle supports comfortable manipulation and controlled application of force during clinical use.

Manufactured from premium surgical grade stainless steel, these root-fragment forceps provide strength, durability, corrosion resistance and long-term reliability. The high-polish finish facilitates cleaning and maintenance, while the reusable construction supports appropriate professional sterilization procedures.

To maintain the performance, appearance, and service life of your stainless steel dental and surgical instruments, follow these care guidelines:

  • Clean instruments immediately after use to prevent blood, tissue, or debris from drying on the surface.
  • Wash using a neutral pH enzymatic detergent and a soft nylon brush. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, or harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse thoroughly with distilled or demineralized water to minimize mineral deposits and corrosion.
  • Dry completely before sterilization or storage, paying special attention to hinges, joints, and serrations where moisture can accumulate.
  • Lubricate hinged and moving instruments regularly with a medical-grade, steam-permeable instrument lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
  • Sterilize using validated autoclave procedures or other approved sterilization methods according to healthcare facility protocols and the instrument’s intended use.
  • Store instruments in a clean, dry environment with tips and cutting edges protected from impact or contact with other instruments.
  • Inspect instruments before each use for wear, corrosion, misalignment, or damage. Remove any defective instrument from service until repaired or replaced.
  • Do not expose stainless steel instruments to bleach, strong acids, high-chloride solutions, or prolonged soaking, as these may cause staining, pitting, or corrosion.
  • Use each instrument only for its intended purpose to preserve precision, functionality, and patient safety.
