Description

Crane-Kaplan Periodontal Curette Fig. CK3 is a precision double-ended dental instrument designed for periodontal scaling and removal of dental deposits. The MMI-64-124 features slender, curved working ends that allow controlled access and adaptation during periodontal instrumentation.

The angled working shanks and curved tips provide a practical configuration for reaching tooth surfaces and periodontal areas where precise instrumentation is required. The fine working ends support controlled scaling movements and removal of accumulated deposits.

Its double-ended configuration combines complementary working ends in a single instrument, providing greater clinical versatility while reducing the need for frequent instrument changes. The knurled handle provides a secure grip and tactile control during periodontal procedures.

Manufactured from surgical grade stainless steel, the instrument is designed for durability, strength and corrosion resistance during repeated professional use. The polished surface facilitates cleaning and maintenance, while the reusable construction allows appropriate sterilization between procedures.

To maintain the performance, appearance, and service life of your stainless steel dental and surgical instruments, follow these care guidelines:

  • Clean instruments immediately after use to prevent blood, tissue, or debris from drying on the surface.
  • Wash using a neutral pH enzymatic detergent and a soft nylon brush. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, or harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse thoroughly with distilled or demineralized water to minimize mineral deposits and corrosion.
  • Dry completely before sterilization or storage, paying special attention to hinges, joints, and serrations where moisture can accumulate.
  • Lubricate hinged and moving instruments regularly with a medical-grade, steam-permeable instrument lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
  • Sterilize using validated autoclave procedures or other approved sterilization methods according to healthcare facility protocols and the instrument’s intended use.
  • Store instruments in a clean, dry environment with tips and cutting edges protected from impact or contact with other instruments.
  • Inspect instruments before each use for wear, corrosion, misalignment, or damage. Remove any defective instrument from service until repaired or replaced.
  • Do not expose stainless steel instruments to bleach, strong acids, high-chloride solutions, or prolonged soaking, as these may cause staining, pitting, or corrosion.
  • Use each instrument only for its intended purpose to preserve precision, functionality, and patient safety.
