Description

West Root Elevator Fig. 1 is a precision dental extraction instrument designed for controlled root elevation, luxation and removal of retained tooth roots during oral surgical procedures. The MMI-53-584-01 features the classic West elevator design with a straight narrow working tip that provides precise access and controlled engagement with root structures.

The slim pointed working end allows dental professionals to access narrow extraction spaces and accurately position the instrument around tooth roots. The straight shaft design provides direct alignment and improved visibility during elevation procedures.

Its lightweight balanced construction supports precise handling and controlled force application, making it suitable for professional dental extraction procedures requiring accuracy and stability.

Manufactured from surgical grade stainless steel, the instrument offers excellent strength, durability and corrosion resistance for repeated clinical use. The high-polish finish allows easy cleaning and maintenance, while the reusable design supports sterilization between procedures.

To maintain the performance, appearance, and service life of your stainless steel dental and surgical instruments, follow these care guidelines:

  • Clean instruments immediately after use to prevent blood, tissue, or debris from drying on the surface.
  • Wash using a neutral pH enzymatic detergent and a soft nylon brush. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, or harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse thoroughly with distilled or demineralized water to minimize mineral deposits and corrosion.
  • Dry completely before sterilization or storage, paying special attention to hinges, joints, and serrations where moisture can accumulate.
  • Lubricate hinged and moving instruments regularly with a medical-grade, steam-permeable instrument lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
  • Sterilize using validated autoclave procedures or other approved sterilization methods according to healthcare facility protocols and the instrument’s intended use.
  • Store instruments in a clean, dry environment with tips and cutting edges protected from impact or contact with other instruments.
  • Inspect instruments before each use for wear, corrosion, misalignment, or damage. Remove any defective instrument from service until repaired or replaced.
  • Do not expose stainless steel instruments to bleach, strong acids, high-chloride solutions, or prolonged soaking, as these may cause staining, pitting, or corrosion.
  • Use each instrument only for its intended purpose to preserve precision, functionality, and patient safety.
